Inspired by the beauty and scents of the Mediterranean Sea, Maar is a Spanish fragrance brand that combines natural ingredients and a strong commitment to sustainability.
Matíz worked closely with Maar’s CEO to bring the brand to life, developing everything from the logo and visual identity to packaging design, brand content, and point-of-sale materials.

Maar’s first 3 fragrances - Nayla, Mina, and Élise - are inspired by plants and flowers found across Mediterranean countries. The fragrances are vegan and made with 97% natural ingredients.

The packaging was designed incorporating several solutions to reduce environmental impact:
The boxes are sealed without plastic film, while the glass bottles and pumps can be easily separated for recycling. Both the cardboard packaging and wooden caps are made from FSC-certified materials, with cork inserts replacing conventional plastic ones inside the caps. The bottles are also refillable, helping to extend their lifespan and reduce waste. The brand prioritizes local sourcing, with 80% of its suppliers based in Spain and the remaining 20% elsewhere in Europe.

For the face night balm, we used Sulapac® material, a biobased and compostable choice that biodegrades completely without leaving any microplastics behind.

Another interesting element is a Roll-On Cover, a protective sleeve designed for the brand’s roll-on perfumes.
The cover protects the fragrance bottle from bumps and potential damage when carried in a purse. The design also allows the perfume to be applied without removing it from the sleeve. The cover is handmade, entirely vegan, and crafted from an innovative textile made from pineapple leaves, called Piñatex, offering a plant-based alternative to conventional leather.
Maar demonstrates how thoughtful packaging design can combine functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility. Discover more at www.maarfragrances.com or follow @maarfragrances.
